  • Furrowed Fields
Signature service: Farm-fresh, sustainably grown produce Established: 2014 Staff Size: 2?10 people Pro Tip: Our Seasonal Surprises boxes are a great way to start eating healthier. Q&A with Dimitri Trembois, Owner Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job? Just being able to spend most of my day outside of the office is very rewarding. I, along with my team, regularly visit local farms (San Juan Bautista, Hollister, Watsonville, Turlock, etc.) to see what the best-tasting produce is and just to interact with the farmers (whom we would never normally interact with, as "city folk"). When and how did you first develop a passion for your work? Dimitri has been involved with farming ever since he was little kid. His family owned a farm and went to numerous farmers' markets. However, tired of the crowds, [he] decided to look into other ways of distributing his fresh produce, but all of the services left much to be desired (they were either too expensive or didn't offer customization). In the winter of 2014, Furrowed Fields was born, with the mission of providing the freshest sustainably grown produce to its customers, while supporting the local community. What aspect of your job, or the services you offer, most often surprises people? There are two aspects: One is that customers can completely customize their [selection] for Build Your Own Boxes (per seasonal availability). The second is that we actually give a lot back to the community. For any customer that mentions a school or other non-profit cause, we donate 10% of all sales on an ongoing basis to that school (for approved schools/non-profits). If the community is happy, then we're happy.

To help their customers feel 100% confident in their choices, they loan out flooring samples and provide free onsite estimates. They vamp up domiciles in wall-to-wall carpeting from brands such as Helios or stained hardwood floors from the likes of Mirage. Extending beyond aesthetic preference, they help homeowners select the right flooring material to suit their lifestyles. Certain carpeting types, for example, can repel pet odor, and laminate floors naturally resist grandfather clocks' drool.
