Francisco Gomes began his professional life as a preacher, but found his path soon leading him to the world of real estate. It was his love of talking to people that got him there, and his love of talking to people that lead him to success. Ultimately he became the director of ABS School of Real Estate & Insurance, where he and his staff help guide people down that same real-estate path. Through courses and books, the pros prep students to earn a real estate-license or a home-inspector's certification so they can charge people every time they say, "Nice house."
The product of a childhood dream, HeliFlights first took to the skies in 2010. Equipped with a fleet of high-quality birds, the company makes its home at Lincoln Park Airport. Here, pilots-in-the-making enjoy the best of both worlds: a country-like setting within a metropolitan area where both the New York City skyline and nearby New Jersey mountains are visible from the skies. What students learn in those skies, though, is up to them. They can earn private flying certificates, commercial certificates, and even become certified instructors. This title enables them to teach other students in the air, on the ground, and in their dreams.
Whether students are newcomers to the bartending scene or have been moonlighting for years, the teachers at Mix 'Em Up can prepare them to mix, serve, and run the business end of a bar with speed and a smile. From handy acronyms to keep the mixing ratios in mind to bar flair such as bottle flipping, the school teaches all of the skills you need to succeed on the job—and connects you to those jobs through a local and national career database.
In 1977, career educators Eileen and Raymond Huntington opened the first Huntington Learning Center in Oradell, New Jersey. Their mission to give every child the best education possible is still going strong. They use an individualized approach to education, adjusting instructional tactics according to each student’s particular needs.
Due to their success in helping K–12 students prepare for exams and improve grades and study skills, there are currently 260 Huntington franchises open nationwide.
The certified Huntington tutoring staff utilizes testing and rubrics for assessing each child’s skills, academic needs and potential for growth. Tutors note student response to different testing and academic situations to craft a methodology sensitive to each child’s learning style. Teachers adhere to the company’s code of ethics that stresses professionalism and confidentiality, encouraging students to improve grades honestly through dedicated study rather than shortcuts.
