  • Tap 'N' Run
It doesn't matter how you complete the 4K course at Tap 'N' Run—just that you have fun doing it. Participants ages 21 and up can walk, run, skip, or cartwheel along the route, stopping at three "chug stations" along the way to down some frosty beer (chugging is optional, and water is always available instead of beer). Costumes are encouraged, too, and the sillier the better. A full beer awaits participants at the finish line, but the fun doesn't stop there. Post-race, organizers dole out prizes at the extracurricular awards ceremony in categories such as "best 'stache," "nastiest belcher," and "most creative team name." All guests receive a finisher's medal that doubles as a bottle opener.

  • St. Louis Running Tour
St. Louis Running Tour's guided outings may chart a winding, 4.5-mile course through the downtown area, but it's still accessible to beginner runners. Guide Joe Michaelree, a veteran runner and local history buff, leads groups along a mostly flat route, making brief stops at key local landmarks: the iconic Arch, Busch Stadium, and along the wharf of the Mississippi River. This run will keep your heart rate up and your mind active as you go past, over, under and through some of the most important historic locations in the area.
