The instructors of Zumbamyheart.com—Claudia, Jinger, and Miriam—identify more as party hosts than teachers. At each Zumba class, they run their guests through intuitive dance moves set to music, as everyone shimmies off excess calories. Their choreography doubles as a toning and cardio workout, and transforms exercise from a chore into a shared celebration for exercisers of all fitness levels.
Git Movin's Zumba classes exist somewhere between a workout and dance party. Instructors lead groups in calorie-burning, easy-to-follow choreography that engages the entire body, even that one muscle that's always slacking off. Latin music, such as salsa and merengue, plays as groups work out in regular fitness studios, or in the case of Aqua Zumba classes, inside of swimming pools.
At Fit Fiesta Studio, owner Eliana Ceballos and a team of experienced instructors lead classes for all ages in hopes of making exercise a fun, community-building activity. Eliana opened the studio with the hope of creating a happy place where people could relieve their stress and simultaneously achieve their fitness goals. Today. students and teachers alike cheer each other on during fitness classes that include a variety of strength- and flexibility-building yoga classes and upbeat Zumba classes. The studio space itself is an expression of this commitment to joy: Zumba classes take place on a 1,600 square-foot floating dance floor that is padded and covered in oak, so students can move freely and safely on a smooth and solid surface.

As they enter the training circle at Curves, female guests come face-to-face with the smiles of other women. And just as points on a circle share a common distance from the circle's center, workout participants share the experiences of those nearby by trading stations throughout the 30-minute training session. One minute is spent on a piece of strength-training equipment built for feminine frames and designed to work two opposing muscle groups with a single movement. Exercisers then move on to a recovery station, where they run, jog, or dance to maintain heart rates and keep platforms in place during momentary losses of gravity.
