The instructors at Wright's FUNdamentals, an offshoot of Wright's Gymnastics Academy, strive to build enthusiasm for gymnastics, dance, and fitness among kids younger than 9 years old at their two Greenwood facilities. Here, tykes plunge down slides into ball pits, tumble on cushy mats, and swing from monkey bars and rings during open-gym sessions, which foster free-form frolicking throughout the indoor playscape.
For more structured bouts of energy expenditure, kids as young as 2 can hone their coordination, fitness, and summersaulting aptitude in a host of age-appropriate gymnastics and cheerleading classes. The Ninja Gym classes challenge boys to conquer military-style obstacle courses, using ninja-style moves to fend off any rogue cooties from the girls.
The National Basketball Academy's instructors host clinics, training sessions, and tournaments for various age groups. Their coaching helps participants improve all aspects of their performance on the court, from shooting to defense, and their youth programs nurture sports skills in children as young as kindergarten. They also set up teams and leagues that allow players to compete in a supportive, friendly environment.

The squeak of athletic shoes. The swish of basketball nets. The resounding wallop of dodge balls connecting with their intended targets. These sounds are part of the regular soundtrack at Midwest Sports and Social Complex, where kids and adults alike work out their athletic affinities. When the weather cooperates, staff members organize weekly outdoor competitive adult tournaments and three-on-three league games on two new, full-length basketball courts. Athletes can also join leagues for dodge ball games and street hockey, a worthy alternative to real hockey when ponds melt and hockey goals return to their underwater homes.
