Four- or Seven-Night Wellness Program near Costa Rica’s Carrillo Beach
The founders of Birchcreek Health and Weight Loss Retreat know a weight-loss program and good habits can be hard to start. To help people to establish healthier routines, they created four- and seven-night immersive programs where health and well-being are your daily focus. And because of the center’s tranquil setting in Carrillo, Costa Rica, you’ll be exercising along gorgeous Pacific beaches near the Costa Rican jungle. In the Jump Start Program, you’ll follow a different itinerary of workouts, meals, and juices each day, but activities typically include hikes, yoga, strength training, and other cardio exercises. After all the physical activities, revitalizing foods, and new techniques learned at weight-loss seminars, you'll return home a few pounds lighter. Participants will be armed with the skills to keep in shape and the confidence to stay away from sugary foods. The Jump Start Program is appropriate for all fitness levels and has a communal, noncompetitive atmosphere. The daily schedule may look something like this:
8:45 a.m. — Green energy shot
9 a.m. — Wake-up power hike
10:30 a.m. — Breakfast
11 a.m. — Weight-loss seminar, "Fat Burning Foods"
12:15 p.m. — Cardio kickboxing
1:30 p.m. — Lunch
2 p.m. — Free time
4:30 p.m. — Stretching class
6 p.m. — Dinner
Choose your own diet: For meals, choose between an all-juice diet and the Clean Food meal plan. With the juice diet, you’ll enjoy healthy drinks such as carrot-ginger and pineapple-orange juice for breakfast, as well as some heartier dinner-drink blends, such as Salsa in a Glass, Little Italy, and Cucumber Citrus. The Clean Food plan incorporates juices but includes fruit at breakfast and vegetarian entrees at dinner, totaling up to about 1,000–1,200 calories per day.
Stay in a hilltop hotel near the beach: Each night after dinner, you’ll retire to Hotel Guanamar, which overlooks beaches and tropical forests from a hilltop in southwestern Costa Rica. Bay-front rooms have balconies that look out onto Carrillo Beach, which was awarded Blue Flag status for water quality and onsite environmental-management services. The picturesque, crescent-shaped beach is just a short walk from the hotel.
