Boutique Hotel on the Harbor near National Aquarium

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor has been one of the city’s most important landmarks since it emerged as a major seaport in the 1700s. The waterfront is still a working port, but thanks to a major redevelopment project in the 1970s, it’s now more famous for hosting the city’s top tourist attractions, including the National Aquarium, Harborplace shopping center, and the Maryland Science Center. The Pier 5 Hotel is perched right on the water, only blocks away from Inner Harbor. The hotel’s Harbor Magic Specialist, whose services are included in the experience package, can plan a personal itinerary with VIP entry at many of these attractions.

The decadent seafood of the Chesapeake Bay area is put on display at McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant, an upscale dining room lined with handcrafted walnut wood. Maryland’s famous blue crabs stuff shrimp and fill soups, and a rotating menu reflects the freshest seafood available, such as wild salmon and razor clams. Guests can whip up their favorite blue-crab recipes and sip local microbrews during Crabby Hour cooking demonstrations, which are held nightly. At Ruth’s Chris Steak House, USDA Prime steaks are still sizzling when they arrive at the table, thanks to 500-degree plates and dollops of fresh butter. With your experience package, you’ll also get a continental breakfast in the morning and a complimentary bottle of wine.

All guest rooms at the Pier 5 Hotel have views of the harbor or the city skyline. Bright walls, vibrant patterns, and pillows stuffed with clown costumes give the rooms a cheery vibe. During your stay here, you’ll have access to the MAC wellness center located nearby, which houses four saltwater pools, a four-lane lap pool, squash courts, and exercise studios.

Baltimore, Maryland: World-Class Museums and Historic Waterfront Neighborhoods

Located just south of downtown Baltimore, the Inner Harbor has become one of the city’s best-known landmarks, a historic seaport that was redeveloped into a tourism district in the mid-20th century. You’ll find several museums here, from the National Aquarium which houses more than 16,500 sea creatures, to the Historic Ships in Baltimore museum featuring the 1854-built USS Constellation and the World War II–era USS Torsk submarine. Head up to the Baltimore World Trade Center's 27th-floor observation deck for 360-degree views of the Charm City's skyline, the Inner Harbor, and the Chesapeake Bay. The city is also known for its variety of little neighborhoods, each of which has its own personality. Less than 2 miles from the hotel, Mount Vernon—one of the city’s oldest sections—has been a desirable address since the country’s first monument to George Washington was built there in 1829. Today, the neighborhood’s elegant 19th-century townhomes share space with the Walters Art Museum and the Lyric Opera house. Back on the waterfront, the cobblestone streets of the Fell’s Point village—a former sailors’ stopover established by William Fell in 1726—draw visitors with fashionable restaurants and lively taverns.
