Six-Day Italian Culinary Tour with Cooking Classes and Discounted Spa Treatments
Prosciutto, polenta, and parmigiano reggiano all come from the Emilia-Romagna region, a center for Northern Italian cuisine. The balsamic vinegar in Modena, aged in wooden casks, comes out so thick it has to be coaxed from the bottle. The region’s homemade egg pastas are also famous, such as tortellini, tagliatelle, and lasagna. During this six-day culinary tour in the coastal town of Rimini, you’ll learn how to prepare an array of traditional Italian dishes. Check out the full itinerary here.
Day 1: After arriving in Italy, you’ll be transferred to the Ferretti Beach Hotel Rimini, your home for the next five nights. Set in a coastal town along the Adriatic, this 4-star property is steps away from a golden-sand beach. All cooking classes and meals—including the welcome lunch or dinner—take place at the onsite restaurant. Toast to the beginning of your tour with a complimentary bottle of regional wine.
Day 2: Led by a professional gourmet chef, you’ll learn how to prepare tagliata pasta with green pepper sauce and wild boar with polenta. Later that evening you’ll get a true taste of the country’s regional specialties during a gourmet, three-course dinner.
Day 3: You’ll travel to an old-world winery just outside of Rimini to sample some of northern Italy’s characteristic wines—a robust Sangiovese, say, or a semi-sweet Albana Spumante. The visit includes a vineyard tour and a stop in an antique wine cellar. The rest of the day is yours to lounge on the beach, or explore Rimini’s important historical sites, such as the Tiberius Bridge, which spans the Marecchia River.
Day 4: In an afternoon tasting event, you’ll get to try various fresh-milled olive oils, served with local breads and cheeses.
Day 5: Breakfast coincides with a gastronomy class that spotlights Italy’s authentic cheeses and cold cuts. You’ll learn about the region’s rich farming history while sampling farm-raised meats, and organic dairy products.
Day 6: This is a free day. Feel free to sign up for the optional Ferrari museum tour and test drive one of the world’s legendary sports cars. Other excursions to choose from: a trip to the Guaita Castle in San Marino, which dates back to the 11th century, or a guided cycling tour.
