Below is a brief rundown of cruise highlights. Click here for a detailed daily itinerary.
Days 1–3: Bodrum, Mausoleum of King Mausolus, Seven Islands
The cruise sets off from Bodrum, a port city situated on Turkey’s southeast coast. The town presents an appealing mix of trendy nightlife and ancient landmarks, the most celebrated of which are the ruins of the mausoleum of King Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built circa 350 BC, the white-marble tomb for Mausolus, the Satrap of Caria, was so decadent that it inspired the word “mausoleum.”
Venture farther onto the Mediterranean Sea to the Seven Islands, a cluster of islands near Kufre Bay. While exploring the islands, take a side trip and snorkel along one of the many breathtaking coral reefs that fringe the archipelago’s bays and inlets.
Days 4–5: Cleopatra Island
Also known as Cedrae or Sedir Island, Cleopatra Island is famous for its ancient ruins, which still include city walls and a massive amphitheater. Be sure to take a stroll on Cleopatra Beach, home to some of the world’s finest sand. According to local lore, Antony ordered the beach to be filled with sand from Egypt to please Cleopatra.
Days 6–8: Kisebuku, Yaliciftlik Bay
Veering back toward the Bodrum Peninsula, you’ll stop off at Kisebuku, the site of a number of Byzantine-era ruins. Nearby Yaliciftlik is located along the sparkling Gulf of Gökova. The pristine coast is home to several resorts. Farther inland, you’ll see sprawling pine forests and tiny hamlets lined with whitewashed buildings.
