On this seven-day culinary tour in central Italy, you’ll explore the hills of Umbria and use the region’s fresh, seasonal ingredients during hands-on cooking classes. Each night, you’ll stay at the 4-star Relais Il Canalicchio, a castle-like structure set atop a hill. In between excursions and cooking classes, there will be plenty of time for relaxing by the pool or hiking through the surrounding mountains. While on this Italian vacation, you can adopt the regional mantra, “Chi mangia bene, mangia Italiano,” which translates to, “Those who eat well, eat Italian.”

  • Marsciano market tour: Head to a local, bazaar-like market off the tourist path to stock up on Italian goods, including cheese, wine, clothes, and shoes. <p>

  • Hands-on cooking classes: Throughout the seven-day stay, a chef will teach you how to craft antipasti dishes, pizza dough from scratch, chocolate salami, gnocchi, peaked meringues, Norcina sauce, and tiramisu. All meals are also included.<p>

  • Quad bike excursion: Zoom through the Umbrian countryside on the back of a four-wheeler during this two-hour guided tour, which wends past nearby vineyards and orchards. <p>

  • Olive oil and winery tour: The group stops by the medieval-era Hamlet of Montecastello, home to some of the world’s most-renowned varieties of olive oils. You’ll watch the step-by-step process of converting olives into olive oil before touring the vineyard and sampling wine and cheese.<p>
