Italian Vacation with Stops in Rome and Florence

On this eight-day Italy vacation, you’ll split your time between Rome and Florence. Both of the hotels where you’ll stay are within a 10-minute walk of the most popular attractions and a stone’s throw from cool cafes and bistros.

Three Days in Rome

It’s known as the Eternal City—a title that nicely encapsulates Rome’s ancient history and continuing vibrancy. Outside the Colosseum, cars and Vespas clog the streets, while inside it, tourists marvel at the ancient amphitheater. Crowded cobblestone paths lead past fashionable boutiques near world-famous landmarks such as St. Peter’s Basilica.

The classically styled Hotel Windrose Rome has a handsome stone exterior and outdoor terrace. It’s located in Termini, just a 10-minute walk from the shopping along Via Veneto and close to Trevi Fountain, one of Italy’s most iconic spots. Bring yourself some good fortune by throwing a coin in the water—according to legend, those who make a donation will one day return. At the end of your stay in Rome, you’ll board a train (passage is included) and make your way through the countryside to Florence.

Five Days in Florence

As the center of the Italian Renaissance, Florence was home to some of the world’s most famous artists—Michelangelo, Botticelli, and da Vinci to name a few. You can see some of their best work at the Uffizi Gallery and at several other museums scattered throughout the city.

In the heart of town tlies the Hotel Delle Nazioni Florence, where you’ll enjoy views of the famed Duomo with its magnificent Renaissance dome. Nearby, you’ll find the Piazza della Signoria, the center of political and social life since the 14th century. Michelangelo’s David was once one of the many sculptures that graced the area. He’s now on magnificent display at The Accademia Gallery.

At the end of your trip, you’ll depart for home from the Florence Airport (FLR).
