Downtown Atlanta Hotel Near Centennial Olympic Park

When the Olympics were held in Atlanta in 1996, city leaders turned a run-down section of downtown into a majestic, 21-acre public park. Today, Centennial Olympic Park is filled with fountains, paths, and trees that commemorate the games. The Georgia Aquarium, considered the world’s largest aquarium, is part of the park as well. More than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water hold the more than 100,000 animals that live there, including beluga whales, lionfish, whale sharks, and bottlenose dolphins. Five blocks from the park and aquarium, Hotel ATL stretches up 10 stories high, overlooking Atlanta's capital city.

From your simply furnished, traditional standard room, you'll have a view of downtown's massive skyscrapers. Every morning, you'll wake up to a hot breakfast buffet. Afterward, take a stroll to some of the famous sites within walking distance, including the World of Coca-Cola, a museum detailing Coca-Cola's history, and Zoo Atlanta, which houses pandas, gorillas, and komodo dragons.

Atlanta: Urban Parks and Renowned Aquarium in Capital of the South

Named 1 of 50 Places of a Lifetime by National Geographic, Atlanta lies near the Chattahoochee River in Georgia's northwest region known for its famed trees: magnolias, pines, and dogwoods. Despite a metropolitan population of more than five million and what is considered the world's busiest airport by passenger count, Atlanta seems to always offer a relaxing escape. Stroll through the 185 acres of botanical gardens, hiking trails, and oaks at Piedmont Park, or study one of the country's largest Civil War exhibitions at the Atlanta History Center.

Anchored by historical Peachtree Street, the city's midtown area boasts a thriving arts-and-culture scene. Opened in 1929, the Fox Theatre features imposing Egyptian architecture and a custom-made organ with a network of 3,622 pipes. Tours take place on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The High Museum of Art spotlights more than 12,000 pieces of contemporary and folk art, ranging from Renaissance paintings to photographs from the civil-rights era.

They need to iron out a few kinks. The ice machine on my floor did not work. There was no indication, in the room, as to where ice machines were. Breakfast was good. If the groupon had not covered the parking, I would have had to pay for parking.

The hotel may have been better as a whole, but my room was like 318 or 319 and the water in sink and shower leaked all night. The balcony door had been broken so it was bolted shut but there was still a crack allowing air and more importantly noise directly Into room. Hotel was great for my purpose of being in town and not being in room long though probly woul stay again in different room
