Kenyan Safari and Diani Beach Vacation
This 10-day Kenyan vacation includes sightseeing, accommodations and round-trip airfare from New York (JFK) or Virginia (IAD) (flight time: approximately 15 hours).
Below, you can check out a summary of some trip highlights. Click here to see a full itinerary.
Days 1–3 After an overnight flight, you’ll arrive in the capital city of Nairobi and set up shop at the Fairview Hotel. The next day, you’ll embark on your first safari tour at Amboseli National Park, which rests at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the tallest mountains on earth. The views of the mountain are certainly striking, but the scenery closer at hand is no slouch either. The park boasts a landscape of lava rock fields, swamps, and acacia groves. Not to mention the wildlife—giraffes, lions, and elephants all roam the grounds. After a day of adventure, Amboseli Sopa Safari Lodge provides a comfortable spot to recharge.
Days 4–5 Tsavo National Park is your next stop. At more than 2,700 square miles, it’s almost as big as the state of Michigan. Such a vast stretch of land is the perfect stomping grounds for more than 10,000 elephants—roughly a third of all the pachyderms in Kenya. In the evening, you’ll settle in at the Ashnil Aruba Lodge, where you’ll find a restaurant that specializes in authentic African cuisine.
Days 6–10 The tour heads southeast to Diani Beach along the shores of the Indian Ocean. The coast is lined with pristine, sugar-white sand and bordered by a coral reef. It’s a popular spot for snorkeling and kite surfing. You’ll spend three nights here at the luxurious Papillon Lagoon Reef. If you keep your eyes peeled, you might see a colobus monkey swinging through the surrounding baobab trees. After your final day on Diani Beach, transfer back to Nairobi for the flight home.
