Super cute boutique hotel! Parking on site, also has a small cafe and restaurant on site. Reminds me of the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, I will definitely be staying here again on my trips to LA!

Posh Boutique Hotel in the Heart of West Hollywood

With its giant mansions, movie studios, and the famous Hollywood sign up in the Hollywood Hills, the neighborhood of West Hollywood epitomizes the glamour and grandeur of Los Angeles. Palihotel Melrose Avenue is set in the heart of West Hollywood, and it doesn't look at all like a traditional hotel; its design is more akin to that of some of the stylish super-homes that line the neighborhood.

The lobby area is decorated with carefully chosen artwork, set amid old-fashioned Edison light bulbs and mod furnishings. Faded photographs are pinned to the walls of the double and queen rooms, and vintage ladders lean up against surfaces to act as shelves or coat hangers. In the interest of total relaxation, rooms are blissfully free of telephones and alarm clocks, though these can be requested from the front desk. Through floor-to-ceiling windows, you can catch a glimpse of the hotel’s green courtyard; some of the windows open up to private verandas overlooking the Hollywood Hills and Sandra Bullock’s backyard hedge maze.

Downstairs, you’ll find a busy coffee shop and dining area, The Hart and The Hunter, which serves entrees such as smoked trout with avocado toast and brussels-sprouts-and-peanut salad. There's an onsite blow-dry bar, too: stylists at Vanity make hair sleek and shiny for nights out on the town.

West Hollywood, Los Angeles: Famous Streets and Funky Stores

Situated northwest of downtown Los Angeles and adjacent to Beverly Hills, West Hollywood can feel unreal at times—it's the site of CBS studios and movie sets, and its streets have served as filming locations for the silver screen over and over again. Just a short walk away from Palihotel, you’ll find the flickering lights of the Sunset Strip and the designer shops of Rodeo Drive.

Step past the front doors of Palihotel, and you're already smack dab in the middle of the Melrose shopping district, which is lined with comedy clubs, funky clothing boutiques, vintage stores, and kitschy themed restaurants. Melrose is a nice change of pace from the traffic and sprawl of the city; it's a relaxed area designed for pedestrians, lined with wildly painted buildings.

Great value and customer service. Room was a bit dark and wall thin, but overall the groupon was a great deal.

The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. It was dark though because all the walls are painted dark green and in the bathroom the ceiling was dark green as well and the floor and trim is black. There was no alarm clock of any kind or a phone to call the front desk for a wake up call or anything else. There was no coffee maker and the mini fridge was just for the things they provided that you had to pay for so we were unable to store any of our drinks in there, My granddaughter did not understand the basket of snacks were things you had to pay for and luckily her brother stopped her before she got anything out of there. It had no closet space so if you are staying awhile (we were only there one night) don't expect to be able to hang up clothes except for one or two things. There was no luggage rack to set your suitcase on to get things out and no dresser to put things in either. (Which didn't matter for one night though) Also no place to hang towels in the bathroom except for one hook. There was no switch for the vent in the bathroom so it didn't seem to work. The cold water faucet handle in our bathroom was broken so no cold water. I had my 10 and 14 year old grandchildren with me. This is more for adults who like antiques. I worked at a boutique hotel in San Antonio like this. If the decor was different and there were places for you to put clothes and more light I might consider staying there again because the staff was so nice.
