Guided Tour of One of Europe’s Oldest Cities
Fodor’s calls Prague “beautiful in a way that makes even the most jaded traveler stop and snap pictures.” That beauty is on display from the hilltop perch of the Prague Castle District, a sprawling 9th-century complex of Baroque churches, elegant courtyards, and the famous Prague Castle. Visit the district and admire the City of a Thousand Spires with this getaway from Panorama Travel, which also includes guided tours of several iconic Prague attractions. View the full six-day, seven-night itinerary here.
Days 1–3: After an overnight flight, you’ll arrive in Prague on the morning of Day 2 and take a complimentary transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for resting and exploring the area.
Day 3 begins with a guided tour of Prague’s historical district. You’ll stop at the palatial National Museum as well as the National Theatre, an opulent venue for operas, ballets, and plays.
Next, the tour pays a visit to the Prague Castle District, a sprawling 9th-century complex that overlooks the city. The castle district also houses the famous St. Vitus Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece known as the Czech Republic’s spiritual symbol.
In Old Town, explore a labyrinth of cobbled medieval streets and stop by the Jewish Quarter, which dates back to the 13th century. The tour culminates at Wenceslas Square, a lively square with shops, restaurants, and nightclubs.
If you visit in November or December, you’ll get a chance to see Wenceslas Square decorated for the holidays. The area transforms into Prague’s famous Christmas Market, where the Daily Mail says “the Czech capital does Christmas at its most picturesque.” Here, festive wooden huts sell traditional and handcrafted Czech clothes, toys, ornaments, ceramics, and jewelry. Be sure to sample mulled wine, a Christmas Market staple.
Days 4–5: The next two days are up to you. You can sightsee at your own pace, or sign up for additional tours at an extra fee. Add-ons include tours of the 14th-century Karlstejn Castle ($85) and the nearby German city of Dresden ($125), which comes with an entrance ticket to the baroque Zwinger Palace.
Day 6: After breakfast, Panorama Travel provides a transfer to Václav Havel Airport (PRG), where you’ll catch your return flight home.
