The red-clapboard cabins have charming, rustic touches. An original Craftsman-style fireplace crackles in Thoreau’s cabin, and Leopold’s cabin features natural rough-cut pine harvested from the property.
Plenty of winter activities—the property’s cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing paths, and snowmobiling trails wind through enchanting pine forests. With an average snowfall of about 200 inches per year, the Tug Hill Plateau is one of the eastern United States’ best spots for downhill skiing.
During the summer, tubers, kayakers, and fisherman flock to the whitewater rapids of Fish Creek, which runs right past the Wellnesste Lodge.
Avid conservationist Christophe Marin founded the lodge as a place of meditation and restoration. He believes its sacred river-valley location, which was once inhabited by Native Americans, encourages guests to reconnect with their spirits.
