- Foster global communication
Youth journalism programs provide interested teenagers with an outlet for engaging with their communities and becoming active participants in meaningful events while gaining useful educational experiences. Youth Journalism International (YJI), an educational nonprofit organization, strives to empower aspiring journalists by creating a close-knit global community of young journalists and mentors.
YJI's staff of volunteer editors teach journalism fundamentals and connect teen writers, artists, and photographers with their peers across the globe at no cost to the students, fostering cross-cultural understanding and promoting a free youth press. Students in 31 countries on five continents have participated in the program, with young reporters covering disparate subjects such as national elections, the Egyptian revolution, and the World Cup. To continue educating and providing publishing outlets for these aspiring journalists, frequent communication is crucial. In order for YJI's volunteer editors to call, email, and send press passes and other materials to students across the world from YJI's Connecticut base, it costs an average of $300 a month.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help YJI mentor and communicate with journalism students across the globe. If G-Team members raise $600, then YJI can provide two months of outreach, including phone and mail communications, to young writers. Each additional $300 will fund another month's worth of outreach to these students.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
