A certified laser technician uses intense pulsed light—IPL—to damage and destroy unsightly spider and reticular veins. This noninvasive technology delivers a concentrated pulse of light to the vein, damaging its walls and causing it to shrink and disappear over time. The technician may apply a topical anesthetic 20 minutes prior to the treatment to minimize discomfort. The treatment itself may take up to 45 minutes; depending on the size and number of veins, anywhere from two to six treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal results.
