Gelato Bus Stop proprietor Clint Legnani traces the origins of his business to a simple gelateria in Bologna, where his family scooped out dollops of the creamy dessert to customers. After spending his younger years working in his uncle's gelato parlor, Clint set out for the USA, opening a sister shop that dishes up some of the same handmade family-recipe goodies as the store in faraway Italy. Legnani and staff labor over mixers all day, creating flavors such as the marscapone cheese and cookie Columbus, or buttery, earthy Hazelnut sourced from Northern Italy. Legnani and his team give guests something hot and liquid with which to pair their gelato treats—freshly brewed espresso and cappuccino, but, thankfully, not liquid gold, as that would approach 900 degrees and melt the cup. Or, they prepare something sweet or savory—crepes slathered with toppings such as Nutella, turkey, or cheese. Perhaps the most interesting item available, however, is the shop's gelato panini, featured in this FOX5 San Diego segment.
