With countless casinos, beaches, and high-end shops, there’s never a shortage of things to do in Atlantic City. And though it may seem like a daunting task to squeeze all of the highlights into a single weekend, it can be done easily if you limit your scope to the Atlantic City boardwalk and follow this helpful 3-day itinerary.

Friday | Check In at Your Hotel and Check Out the Casinos

  • Friday afternoon: Don’t let the beck and call of the casino lure you quite yet. Spend the afternoon leisurely checking in to your hotel and unwinding after the drive or flight.
  • Friday night: One of the best things to do in Atlantic City on your first night is hit the slots. Take your chances at Caesars Atlantic City, a casino and premier hotel that houses over 2,000 slot machines and table games.

Pro Tip: Most casino-hotels offer dining, resort, or casino credit to guests. Check for package deals before booking your stay.

Saturday | Ride the Boardwalk, Hit the Shops, and Stroll the Piers

  • Saturday morning: Scope out the Atlantic City boardwalk on one of its famous rolling chairs—a city staple since 1887. Fashioned after wheelchairs, the history-rich gliders are powered by actual humans who push them from behind like giant shopping carts.
  • Saturday afternoon: Head to Playground Pier, one of the swankiest—and loveliest—spots to go shopping in Atlantic City. The luxury mall, which houses the likes of Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co., resides on a 900-foot pier over the Atlantic Ocean and connects to Caesars via a second-story skybridge.
  • Saturday night: Take an evening stroll at Steel Pier, a family-friendly amusement park that has some of the city’s best views of the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean. For an even better vantage point, hitch a ride on the ferris wheel.

Sunday | Go Beaching and Visit the Oddest Museum Ever

  • Sunday morning: Indulge in one of Atlantic City’s beach activities, which include surfing, kayaking, fishing, and more. If you’re looking to hit the waves on a surfboard, head over to Delaware Avenue Beach, where you’ll have easy access to lessons and gear rentals.
  • Sunday afternoon: Make a stop at the boardwalk’s Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. This epicenter of oddities features unique exhibits, including a spider made from scissors and knives, a roulette table crafted with over 14,000 jellybeans, and the world’s smallest production car.
