Velveeta shortage be damned. These classy dips take halftime snacking beyond queso. 1. Charred Onion Dip from Lottie and Doof Tabasco and lemon juice add a grownup kick to this nostalgic recipe from one of Chicago’s most beautifully photographed food blogs. 2. Pretzels with Beer Cheese Sauce (Milwaukee-Style) from The Curvy Carrot Pair this cheesy, Wisconsin-inspired dip with an ice-cold Old Style and a prayer of thanks that this year Green Bay didn’t make it far in the playoffs. 3. Roasted Fennel and White Bean Dip from Food 52 Winner of Food 52’s Your Best Dip contest, this recipe tucks creamy cannellini purée under a crackly layer of baked parmesan for added texture. 4. Hot Asiago Crab and Artichoke Dip from Confections of a Foodie Bride Blogger Shawnda promises that this “lightened-up” recipe goes “heavy on the crab and artichokes” and lighter on the rich, oozy cheese. 5. Feta Salsa from Smitten Kitchen I dug back into the archives of Deb Perelman's iconic food blog to find this 2008 recipe, which gives classic Mexican pico de gallo a Greek-inspired twist.
