Fun experience. My husband, 2.5 year old and I (pregnant) enjoyed our time. It wasn't crowded with people so that was a huge plus for us. Thank you Carlsbad Lagoon.

Aqua bikes were fun, but be prepared for a leg workout! Pedal or paddle to the nature preserve for a little bird watching, and you might even catch a glimpse of the resident turtle along the way. Lots of fun in the sun!

Went kayaking with some friends, definitely a good price, beginning of April was a little chilly and the wake from the boats owned me a bit, apparently I'm not that great at kayaking, but it was definitely a fun day and I will do it again, when it gets a little warmer.

The aqua cycles are more work to move than fun. We did the two-hour rental and ended up returning it early. Kayaking (or anything else they rent) looked more fun than these big-wheels that move slowly for the amount of energy output. Most everyone else (a few dozen people), except for two other pairs of people, rented kayaks or paddle boards, and after this experience, I understand why. I look forward to returning to the to the Carlsbad Lagoon to try the other options, as it is beautiful.

We always enjoy kayaking & SUP boarding! Not sure about the men's side but the ladies restroom is in SERIOUS need of repair. The hole core door is half broken, boards on the outside of the building falling off, the faucet is loose so the tap spins around. Maybe they will fix some stuff before the busy season hits as we were there in March.

From Our Editors

Carlsbad Lagoon's on-water adventures take place at a private beach area lined by palm trees. Here, wakeboards, waverunners, and water skis speed across the water’s surface, bouncing into the air with each wave. The fleet also boasts more leisurely watercraft, such as kayaks and aqua cycles—oversized, buoyant tricycles that fulfill the dream of every child who drove his big wheel into the bathtub.

Of course, Carlsbad Lagoon doesn’t leave its customers to paddle hopelessly in circles. The staff includes instructors, who teach the basics of the various on-water activities. The aquatic educators also run a children's camp.
