Had the chicken w pesto sauce. The homemade pasta and pesto sauce were delicious but the chicken meat was really tough. I wouldn't choose chicken next time, just the pasta. The restaurant was quaint.

Service takes time when they're busy but it's worth it. Just be patient and try the chocolate nemesis dessert!

The food was very good. The staff was very rude. We had reservations and waited 10 minutes before anyone came to greet us. Meanwhile, staff was walking back and forth in front of us. We were finally asked if we had reservations and then still left standing by the door. Finally we were told we could sit at the bar. Staff continued to walk back and forth in front of us and never asked us if we wanted a drink. After about 10-15 minutes of this, I asked a staff member if we could get a drink. She replied, I'm going to seat you now. She never took a drink order. We waited a while before anyone came to our table. We placed our orders and one of the entrees was supposed to have chicken in it and did not. We pointed this out and 15 minutes later, a side of chicken to be mixed in with the pasta was presented to us. When it was time to leave, I had plenty of food left and wanted to take it with me. I was subsequently presented with a to go box with about 1/4 of the food I had left on my plate. The food was great, the place is cute, but the service was not good. Service can make or break a business. Our experience was unfortunate.

Visited The Pasta Tree for our 15 year wedding anniversary. The staff was friendly and attentive. The music and lighting made for a romantic evening. The breaded mozzarella was excellent, but the main couses were not as good as we expected.

From Our Editors

Homemade from egg, spinach, or whole wheat, The Pasta Tree Restaurant & Wine Bar's namesake pasta earned the eatery the honor of best Italian restaurant and runner-up for best romantic restaurant on Express Milwaukee's Best of Milwaukee 2012 list. Now celebrating 30 years of dining excellence, chefs toss them with ingredients such as a gorgonzola Alfredo sauce, caramelized mushrooms, and Australian lobster tail. They incorporate more local ingredients into other homemade delicacies, such as fresh baked bread and tiramisu.

To help wash down each homemade bite, barkeeps pour reds and whites by the glass, whip up classic cocktails, and decant local beers. Feasts unfold in The Pasta Tree Restaurant & Wine Bar's European-style bistro, split between an intimate dining room and a cozy wine bar. There, a fireplace thaws chilly customers in the winter, while a secret garden patio opens in summer to surround diners with aromatic flowers, tranquil fountains, and gnomes that lust after your food but never touch it. Customers also have the option to take the bistro fare to take to a festival or enjoy in a park or on a boat by ordering the gourmet picnic basket for two .
