For One: Two-Day Beginner US Sailing Basic Keelboat Course (weekend group course for one student)
- Offered every weekend (Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm) dependent on availability, call to inquire
- Ideal for beginners or individuals needing a skills refresher
- Group size limited to 4 students (ages 18+ only) for personalized instruction
- Conducted over weekends at San Diego Harbor Island
- Hands-on learning aboard Capri 22 sailboats
- Covers rigging, sailing, and docking without supervision
- Includes US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification
- Participants must bring a warm jacket, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses
For Two: Private Two-Day Beginner US Sailing Basic Keelboat Course (midweek private course for up to two students)
- Flexible scheduling: any two consecutive weekdays 9am-5pm (Monday to Friday) dependent on availability, call to inquire
- Tailored private course for up to two students (18+ only)
- Offers the same certification and hands-on experience as the group option
- Certification covers sailboats up to 25 feet in length
- Conducted aboard Capri 22 sailboats at San Diego Harbor Island
- Includes US Sailing certification fee ($55/person) and port fee ($66.30)

About Harbor Island Yacht Club
With a fleet of more than 50 sailboats and two locations, Harbor Island Yacht Club helps its members get out on the water. Their 22- to 42-foot sailboats are available for members who want to take lessons or explore the water on their own. Its US Sailing-certified school is manned by instructors who teach learn-to-sail lessons, helping beginners get their certification to sail keel boats up to 25 feet in length. More advanced sailors can enjoy bare-boat charters on a wide variety of boats, in the hopes of meeting a real live mermaid.
