Getting groceries and essentials delivered fast has become big business these days, with Target leading the pack in terms of convenience and affordability. In fact, Target can deliver your order to your door for free—even on the same day! It’s all a part of their partnership with Shipt, and the Groupon Coupons team is here to tell you all about it.
Shipt is a local community of shoppers who grab your Target order and deliver it the same day. You choose a one-hour delivery window, and they’ll bring your entire order right to your door. The service, which is available in all major metro areas and most of the United States, is uber convenient for stocking up on groceries and quickly refilling any essentials. Impromptu dinner party and not enough plates? You can buy both your dinnerware and recipe ingredients at Target and have them delivered to your doorsteps in the knick of time. Here’s how Target Same-Day Delivery works:
1. Add eligible items (they’ll have a Same Day Delivery option on the product page) to your cart, or shop the Same Day Delivery page. You’ll need to spend at least $35 to be eligible for Same Day Delivery.
2. Choose your one-hour delivery window at checkout. At this point, you can either sign up for a free four-week trial of Shipt or pay a $9.99 delivery fee.
3. Select backup items in case your product is out of stock. You can also send a note to your Shipt shopper.
4. Pay for your order and wait for your goodies to arrive. Your Shipt shopper will text you if they have any questions about substitutions or where to leave the delivery. You can tip your driver in cash at the door or later through your Target account.
The cost of a Shipt subscription, which includes a limitless number of Same Day Deliveries, is $99/year. If you choose to pay as you go instead, you can get Same Day Delivery for $9.99/order.
Beneath your order total on the checkout page you’ll see a checkbox for a free four-week trial to Shipt. Select it and poof! Your $9.99 delivery charge disappears. At the end of the trial, you can either cancel your membership or be charged the $99/year subscription fee.
So. Many. Things. In addition to snagging perishables and frozen foods typically excluded from Target delivery, you can also pick up personal care items, baby diapers, toys, and even furniture.
The following items are excluded from Same Day Target Delivery:
Any Target customer can get their orders delivered free (some even qualify for two-day shipping!) when they spend $35 or more. The good news, as any Target shopper with the intention of buying ‘just a few things’ can attest to, is that this is extremely easy to do. Target has an impressive number of items, including household cleaning products, cosmetics, apparel, and adorable home decor pieces, so you’re likely to find something (usually on sale) you didn’t know you 100% have to have. Target is dangerous that way.
You’ll get free two-day shipping on most items at Target when you use your Target RedCard. Sign up is free but subject to approval, and you can choose between a debit or credit card. Both cards come with loads of other benefits, including 5% off your order and exclusive deals year-round. You can also amp up the savings by getting the latest deals with the Target Circle app, a free loyalty program previously called Cartwheel. Lastly, be sure to check out the Target Weekly Ad for any free gift card deals (there’s usually a few).
If you’re not a Target RedCard holder and don’t meet the $35 purchase minimum, you still may be able to score free shipping on any order with a Target promo code. Target traditionally offers free shipping during the holidays, starting the week of Black Friday and lasting through the Christmas shopping season. Be sure to browse through Groupon Coupons’ collection of Target discount codes before checking out to save with free shipping.
