On the inside of Tahyani and Alexis Perdomo's cakes, there are really no surprises: locally sourced eggs, flour, sugar, and butter come together to form fresh, made-from-scratch treats. On the outside, though, those same cakes are anything but ordinary, as they sport three-dimensional designs that range from popular cartoons to small-scale football stadiums. The idea came to Tahyani and Alexis in 2008 after they were unable to find the perfect _Finding Nemo_–themed cake for their son's party. After trying to grow the dessert by planting birthday candles in their garden, they finally decided to make their own in the kitchen. They're fun and realistic design earned them glowing reviews from the parents in attendance, persuading them to start their own business. Today, the batter-sculpting duo dispatches 100% personalized cake products across the Ozarks for any occasion, crafting custom designs such as beer kegs, planets, or characters from movies and 19th-century Harlequin romance novels.
