Q&A with Nicole Haagenson, Owner
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
When practiced on a consistent basis, yogis draw motivation from seeing their muscles tone and their legs and torsos lengthen. They also develop better circulation, and when inversions are part of their practice, they get high from all the blood flow to the brain.
Sweating to the oldies is acceptable, but sweating to the blues less so. Do you find that certain styles and genres of music generate more intense workouts?
We mainly play soothing instrumental background music. The entire experience promotes restoration and healing.
Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?
Aerial Yoga Houston is not a gym but does have it's own etiquette. Silence in the studio, keeping eyes to yourself and practicing safety first are the cornerstones of success for the group experience.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Please do not eat a large meal within two hours of coming to class. Students should wear long sleeves and form-fitting clothes; they should also remove any jewelry before class. Pregnant women should not do aerial yoga, but they are certainly welcome to attend post-natal.
