Well, first of all he was 15 minutes late. He did acknowledge that and offerred to do the full time, but I had a babysitter and couldn't stay. He also offerred for me to come back for a free 15 minutes, but it doesn't seem worth it. I will also say that he has very nice energy and it was nice just to be in his presence, but for the my money, I would have rather had a good massage. The techniques he used were very subtle (like he stood there barely touching one spot for ten minutes at a time). I stayed open minded and trusted that it was "working" on some level that I just wasn't used to or didn't understand, but I never felt the benefits. I went in very tense and I did leave more relaxed, but I'm not sure it was any more relaxing than laying down anywhere for an hour would've been. Usually after a massage my neck (my main problem area) feels so much longer, for days even, but I never felt that with this massage. He said I would feel surprisingly "worked" the next day, but I didn't. He also set me up for some embarrassment. In our talk before the massage I told him I was going through a really hard time in my life. After the massage when I told him it was really nice to be around his energy he said verbatim "don't be afraid to reach out if you ever just want to talk" which sounds to me like a friendly person trying to be friendly. I was shy to take him up on it, but decided that he wouldn't have offerred if he hadn't meant it, so I texted him that I would like to talk sometime. He texted back for me to sign up for a free 20 minute consultation. I guess he's also a life coach, in addition to a massage therapist, so his offer "just to talk" was actually trying to get a client. Like I said, great energy. And after looking at his excellent reviews, I'm tempted to blame myself--perhaps I'm not in touch enough with my body to notice any benefits. But I don't think that's true. I'm actually quite in touch with my body and it just wasn't a very good massage.
