The Issue: Shelter Dogs Sleep on Cold Concrete Floors
Dogs living in shelters can spend months waiting to be adopted. Most shelter dogs sleep in kennels with concrete floors, which can be exceptionally uncomfortable, even with blankets. Providing beds for such dogs can make their shelter stays more enjoyable, which is important because a dog's happiness shows in its behavior, giving it a better chance of being adopted.
The Campaign: Building Raised Beds for Shelter Dogs
If 50 people donate $10 to this Grassroots campaign, then Animal Aid Foundation can build 50 raised pet beds for dogs at shelters across the United States that do not euthanize, thanks to matching donations from Kart 2 Kart. Donations will be matched up to $500. Each additional $20 raised will provide another raised bed for a shelter dog.
All donations will be matched up to a $500 total by Kart 2 Kart.
Animal Aid Foundation
Animal Aid Foundation works each day to place lost or unwanted pets in permanent homes through rescue and community-outreach programs. One day, the organization hopes to open a no-kill shelter to help reduce pet overpopulation and provide an alternative to shelters that practice euthanasia.
On a typical day, Animal Aid Foundation volunteers might review pet-adoption applications, transport shelter animals to the veterinarian for vaccinations, or remove animals from shelters with high euthanasia rates and place them in foster care. Volunteers also deliver pet food to low-income families and help run community-outreach programs that provide necessities such as bedding and doghouses.
