The Issue: Dog Overcrowding in Animal Shelters
Due to housing foreclosures and other impacts of the economic downturn, an increasing number of pet owners are forced to surrender their animals to shelters and other agencies, according to the American Humane Association. This leads to overcrowding at shelters and an uptick in euthanized animals.
The Campaign: Providing Dog Food for Beagle Foster Parents
If 30 people donate $10 to this Grassroots campaign, then Arizona Beagle Rescue can provide 10 months of dog food for an individual or family interested in fostering a beagle, but in need of financial assistance. Each additional $30 raised will be used to provide another month's worth of dog food.

Arizona Beagle Rescue
Arizona Beagle Rescue (AZBR) aims to find permanent homes for beagles and to prevent their unnecessary deaths by euthanasia, rescuing them from shelters and other agencies. As AZBR has no shelter facility of its own, the organization relies on volunteers to temporarily foster the dogs until they're matched with a family or individual for permanent adoption. Along with offering these services, AZBR educates the public about temperament and traits specific to beagles and the importance of spay and neuter services. In 2011, AZBR rescued and found homes for 121 beagles that would otherwise have been killed in shelters.
