What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

Hot Yoga Charlottesville has an experienced staff and state of the art hot room which sets us apart from any other studio in Charlottesville. Hot Yoga Charlottesville is locally owned/operated and has been since January 27, 2004 and has won Best Yoga Studio in Charlottesville 10 years straight by readers of C-ville newspaper. With 44 classes a week, we have a yoga class to fit just about any schedule!

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

After years of soccer and long distance running, I started practicing hot yoga and in love with the recovery and peace that it brought to my life. I moved to Charlottesville 15 years ago and immediately started looking for just the right place to open this community. I decided on the downtown mall because of its charm and local feel. It is the perfect part of town to feel what Charlottesville really is - kind, vibrant, and unique.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the people I meet and the joy of watching people heal and become stronger. I have witnessed people regain control of their life after being told they’d never walk normally again. I’ve known students who have moved off of medications they thought they would have to take for the rest of their lives - it is an amazing and powerful practice. I also love watching the friendships that develop in our community.

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?

I think it has to be from a woman named Elizabeth. She walked in with a cane and walked out without it. The joy and sparkle in her eyes will stick with me forever!
