The most advanced ski simulator to date was developed by the government in the early nineties under the code name NorthStar, but the project was abandoned after early attempts to weaponize it proved disastrously silly. Enter the Boston Ski & Sports Club—a group of 30,000 or so like-minded enthusiasts who enjoy athletics as much as they enjoy socialization. Join their ranks with today's deal: for $70, you get a one-year membership ($65 value) and one day ski trip ($78 value) of your choice. Your membership will activate when you register for your first trip, though you can activate it beforehand, and will be a valid member for 12 months from the date of activation.
While skiing down your roof or crisco-covered basement staircase are enjoyable activities, the adventure is likely to be short-lived. To hit longer slopes, you must venture outside of the Boston area. Over the winter months of December to April 17, the club sponsors three to four trips per week with possible destinations including: Stowe, Killington, Sunday River, Mount Snow, and Jay Peak. BSSC makes day ski trips easy by including a bus ride to your destination from one of the excursion's five convenient pick up spots. Pick-up locations vary by trip, so be sure to check the schedule for your options. Also included is a lift ticket, discounted rentals and lessons, and a short manual on taming wild horses. The ease and convenience of heading for the hills are part of the reason BSSC claimed first place in Cityvoter's Best Sports Activities and Clubs category (the other part being hypnosis).
Membership includes discounts to other BSSC events, discounted renewal rates, group rates, and free member mixers. Escape with new people and unite under a shared love for adventure and medieval sword handling. Expand your current group of friends to include snow bunnies and bunnies that ski. People of all ages are welcome to come hit the slopes, as long as they call ahead to schedule that trip. Those under 13 must be with a parent, and 14–17 year olds must have a signed parental consent form.

More than 45,000 players join its leagues every year to compete in 12 different sports that range from field hockey and basketball to soccer and kickball. Men’s, women’s, and coed options help every player find a team more enjoyable to play with than one exclusively made up of imaginary friends. The club helps members stay active and socialize with a variety of outdoor adventures and social events, including pub crawls.
The club also organizes longer jaunts, such as day and weekend ski trips that take groups to snowy slopes or more involved weekend and week-long trips that venture beyond state and even national boundaries. The club’s seasoned travel experts plan each detail, freeing travelers from the hassle of booking accommodations or figuring out if a country only accepts secrets as currency.
