Bredenbeck’s Bakery originally opened in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood in 1889. The bakery was an instant success and eventually expanded to include multiple locations in the city. In 1983, Karen H. Boyd-Rohde opened Bredenbeck’s current location in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. Since then, Boyd-Rohde has established Bredenbeck’s as one of the most well-known, well-respected bakeries in the Philadelphia area. Boyd-Rohde opened the bakery’s Ice Cream Parlor in 1985 where they continue to serve creamy, delicious Bassett's ice cream, home churned in Philadelphia. They offer a variety of flavors including Dark Chocolate Chip, Strawberry, Cherry Vanilla, Guatemalan Ripple, Mint Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, Birthday Cake, Phillies’ Graham Slam, and Salted Caramel. Bredenbeck's Ice Cream Parlor is also known for their decadent sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cakes, and homemade whipped cream.
