Candy makes a better gift than jewelry due to its higher bartering value on school playgrounds and in post-apocalyptic bazaars. Give the gift that keeps on giving with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of gourmet confections at Bruttles, with locations in Spokane, Spokane Valley, and Coeur d’Alene.
Bruttles sweetens teethbuds with a variety of gourmet treats, including caramels, nut brittles, and signature, chocolate-dipped Bruttles. Master candy maker and Bruttles founder Aunt Sophia Gerkensmeyer engineered the 60-year-old recipe for soft peanut-butter brittle, and each batch is still hand-pulled on her original marble slab ($6.50–$22.95). The shop’s signature candy is the peanut-butter Bruttle: soft peanut-butter brittle (sans nuts) dipped in rich, semi-sweet chocolate, ($9.95 for a 12-piece bag). Romantics can appease the impending onslaught of armed cherubs with gift items such as the Valentine truffle sampler, which houses 12 handmade truffles, four peanut Bruttles, and two caramels ($22.95).

Four Yelpers give Bruttles a 4.5-star average:
- I reach for my first taste of the salted caramel. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the holy Spirit, this is the single greatest piece of candy to ever grace my palette. – Jason R., Yelp, 7/2/2010
- A small town is not a small town without a fantastic candy store with decadent chocolate, super premium Bruttles ice cream, and other fine treats. Coeur d'Alene finally has one and it is none other than the fabulous Bruttles. – Nosey P., Yelp, 10/21/2010
