Sensei Rusty Burke teaches Silkisondan Karate, a style he learned directly from Master Thinh Nguyen, the founder of the system. Silkisondan integrates elements of tae kwon do, aikido, judo, and kung fu, which Rusty teaches in adult-, kid-, and women-specific classes, as well as in whole-family sessions, in a studio that has newly expanded and doubled its size. Rusty is a combat veteran of the first Persian Gulf War, so he not only goes by "Sensei Burke" but by "Sergeant Burke." He folds his martial-arts experience—evidenced by multiple black belts and hundreds of broken planks of wood—into the discipline and skills he learned as a marine.
