Camarillo Shotokan Karate understands that a child's develop is rapidly changing. After many years of experience we have developed 'pre-karate' programs that are similar developmentally: Lil' Cubs 3 & 4yrs - Lil' Tigers 5 & 6yrs. Teaching life skills & good work ethic since 1981

What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
The feeling of accomplishment! Some places give you a trophy just for trying. We DO NOT feel that 'just trying is good enough', but rather recognize that it's a great start! When a student tries a class for the first time we want them to feel a sense of accomplishment. Trying is the 1st step.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I was greatly inspired by coaches, teachers and my karate instructor at a young age. I personally feel that without the guidance and encouragement from these individuals I would not be the person I am today. My inspiration to teach is to help positively impact a student's life (young or old).

What do you love most about your job?
Recognizing the positive direction of my students. Some students simply take away basic respect and etiquette that they may not have gained otherwise. Another student may increase his/her confidence by learning to stand, sit, look, walk and talk with certainty. The Self-Defense is an added bonus!
