The Issue: Euthanasia of Homeless Dogs
About 60% of dogs that enter shelters nationwide are euthanized, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. By creating medical-isolation yards for dogs at rescue facilities, more homeless dogs can be saved from unnecessary deaths at local animal shelters.
The Campaign: Building Medical-Isolation Yard for Dogs
If 50 people donate $10, then CARES can build a medical-isolation yard for 15–20 dogs currently living at high-kill shelters. The larger isolation yard will allow CARES to pull more dogs from those shelters while preventing the spread of communicable diseases they may have picked up. Each additional $10 raised will be used to purchase kennels to house the dogs.

Since 2007, CARES (Community Animal Rescue & Educational Shelter) has rescued and found homes for more than 1,000 pets. CARES aims to both strengthen the bond between pets and people and enhance the quality of pets' lives through responsible adoptions, sheltering, and community outreach and education. Along with rescuing dogs from local high-kill shelters, the volunteers and staff pair pets with foster families and permanent, loving homes.
