$49 for a Two-Hour Photography Workshop ($199 Value)

In classes with up to 20 students, professional instructors spend the first hour focusing on digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera settings and functions, as well as topics such as depth of field, shooting modes, and shutter speed. During the second hour, students apply their newfound knowledge on a hands-on photo excursion as instructors dole out tips on light usage, sharp compositions, and proper exposure. Each student walks away with a handout that covers the concepts and terms covered during the workshop, as well as a login to a web forum where they can share photos, ask questions, and receive critiques on their art shots or their baby daughter’s pigtails. All classes are held on location at to-be-determined locales in downtown Nashville.

Celladora Wedding Photography

John Yates and Mollie Cochrane, the laid-back and professional shutterbugs of Celladora Wedding Photography, modestly describe themselves as “hilarious joke tellers” and “occasional bride calmer-downers.” Those skills and a knack for crisp, brightly lit photos come in handy at the innumerable weddings the duo has documented from coast to coast. Their subjects’ ease in front of the camera is evident in their portfolio of candidly grinning brides, dapper grooms, dedicated military men, and chicken-dancing wedding officiators. When not snapping engagement shots or running a reception photo booth, the pair takes time to share their wealth of shutter skills with new parents or curious digital-camera owners during workshops that divide time between photography basics and hands-on instruction in the field.
