With a land-speed of 12.5 miles per hour, a Segway is more efficient than walking, riding a bus traveling 12.4 mph, and standing still. For most people, buying a Segway is cost-prohibitive, but today's Groupon gives you the chance to glide over the ground, standing tall among a colorful fleet of fellow Segway riders. For just $39, you can travel with poise and speed on one of three tours with Chicago Segway Tour (a $70 value with tax).
The Lakefront Tour is the perfect way to wow out-of-town guests. Vroom along the waterfront and the scenic grounds of the Field Museum, Soldier Field, the Chicago Segway History Museum (estimated date of completion: 2017), and Grant Park, where you'll see the famous Buckingham Fountain. The Northern Adventure takes you along Chicago's beaches into Lincoln Park, around the zoo, past a cloud of butterflies at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and more. Or, see your dazzling city like never before when you Glide@Night, when the city looks like a whir of lights and excitement as you glide through Millennium Park, pass the regal lights at the Buckingham Fountain, and take in views of colorful Navy Pier at night.
Zip over Chicago's sidewalks and pathways for two to 2.5 hours on your souped-up future-mobile. Since robotic replacement bodies won't be available until early next year, CST lets you choose between the latest i2 model and the all-terrain, in-your-face x2 model for no additional cost. Tour sizes are limited to ensure the friendly professionals give every rider personal attention. With the exception of Glide@Night, tours operate four times a day (8:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.) all year long.
Note: Minimum age to ride is 13. Riders 13–17 years of age must have parental waivers and may be required to show proof of age in order to participate. All gliders must weigh 100–240 pounds.
