- Inventive concoctions
Before the Rubik's Cube, there was the custard cube. Completely unsolvable, the only cube ever built was eaten out of frustration by its flummoxed creator. Today's Groupon offers a taste of this maddeningly good treat. For $5, you get $10 worth of frozen custard and sweet treats from Chillz Frozen Custard. Located across from Johnson Field at UNM, Chillz dispenses the toothsome love. Bring your own elbow room, because there's not much in this intimate, ever popular custardcopia of deliciousness.
In addition to its perennial made-from-scratch chocolate and vanilla flavors, Chillz prepares one special flavor a day (single scoop, $3) and previews its monthly menu on the site. Like the mayfly, these delicate flavors rise up from the earth and die within a day, their flavor but an ephemeral memory. February's heartbreakingly mortal flavors ran the gamut from horchata to lavender to Lucky Charms to white Russian to carne adovada. The Chillz menu is also populated by sundaes, floats (done up with either soda, coffee, or energy drink, $2–$5), and "concretes," custard blended with a topping of your choice ($4 for a regular). Toppings dot the menu like 33 desert flowers in the spring, including blueberries, cookie dough, pecans, maple syrup, and more. If you feel that a puny cone doesn't challenge your stomach, try the eight-scoop, eight-waffle, eight-topping challenge. Finish the behemoth in 30 minutes and the friendly staff rewards you by giving it to you for free; otherwise, you'll be buried in custard concrete.
By using a higher percentage of egg yolk and less air and water, frozen custard is as decadent to the tongue as the finest ice cream but contains on average 60% less fat. This is all made possible by a bargain Chillz's future owner made with a mysterious man on a horse, which was on top of a bigger horse. So lick and spoon assured that nothing on earth will compare anytime soon, and that when hell freezes over, they'll serve frozen custard.

Eighty-six percent of Urbanspooners like Chillz, and five Yelpers give it four stars:
- Think Soft serve, only more full of yum. The folks that run this place are very nice, and everything they make is super fresh and tasty. And they are not just for desert now, they have wings and other food items too. – Adric Menning, Urbanspoon
- The staff was super friendly and immediately offered samples, they have the usual chocolate and vanilla every day and also a "flavor of the day"...Very creamy and very good! – Stacy L., Yelp
