People go to spas to forget about the outside world. How does your decor help create an atmosphere where visitors can unwind?
I chose the colors for my room specifically to make my clients feel like they are on a beach. Sky blue, sandy beige, and one darker maroon wall. If you prefer a darker room, the warm orange glow from my Himalayan Salt lamp and several candles can replace the overhead light.
What's the most common mistake you see people make? What would you recommend they do instead?
People stretch the wrong muscles. If the upper back hurts, it is already over-stretched and weak. The chest muscles need to be stretched. They are the ones that are always short and tight due to working on computers and poor posture. The back muscles need to be strengthened and activated.
How did you get started in the industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
Massage therapy was one of the options I was considering when I decided I wanted to go back to school after my divorce. It was decided for me in a moment of clarity during a walking meditation around a labyrinth pattern at a local spiritual center, and I am glad that I obeyed that intuition.
