What You'll Get
Give a child a fish, and he or she will eat for a day; teach a child to make perfect sushi rolls, and he or she will be rewarded with an endorsement deal for child-hand-sized oven mitts. Guide your child down the road to culinary superfame with today's Groupon: for $29, you get two 90-minute kids’ cooking classes from Cook with Misslane. Classes are held on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and take place at Savory Fare Bakery and Cafe in the Northeast Quadrant. The first eligible class is on Saturday, September 18.
At Cook with Misslane, kids from ages 8 to 14 can take classes with Lois Harvie, or "Misslane," a certified K–8 teacher and mother who is passionate about showing children how to have fun cooking while they learn about healthy eating decisions. During class, Misslane discusses recipes and nutrition while guiding culinary cadets through cooking sessions using locally sourced and eco-friendly ingredients. Working with foods such as pizza, pasta, and chocolate, students will create simple yet scrumptious fare that can be eaten with or without a food-shovel. Each class is limited to 15 students and three professional baseball players, so sign up ahead of time (at least 48 hours in advance) to ensure that your spawn is not deprived of a culinary adventure.
