Today’s Groupon gets you and a golf buddy 18 holes of intense links action and the keys to a golf cart on one of Cottonwood Golf Club’s beautiful courses in El Cajon. Choose between two accuracy-testing, mulligan-inducing courses:
- The Lakes: Put your accuracy to the test on a course that plays tight from the first tee to the 19th hole. Features tree-lined fairways; tight, undulating greens; and golden retrievers trained to catch tee shots in their dog-mouths.
- The Ivanhoe: Formerly the site of the PGA’s Monday Qualifying Tournament for the Buick Invitational. Challenge yourself off the tee with difficult driving holes. Perfect for experienced linksmen and the weekend warrior.
Golf with friends is the best kind of bonding. There’s nothing like being out in the open air, hearing the wind blow through the beautiful old trees lining the well-groomed fairways, and refusing to grant your compadres mulligans. The satisfaction of a well-played hole is amplified by the sadistic enjoyment you get from your partner’s three-shot spectacle in the woodsy rough.
Please note: This Groupon may not be redeemed for two rounds by the same person. You must redeem for one round of 18 holes for you and a partner at the same time. Golf cart included in Groupon.
Citysearchers give Cottonwood Golf Club 4.5 stars ; Yelpers give it 3.5: > * I have played many rounds at Cottonwood. I love playing in the summer because twilight begins early and is a great price even if you need a cart. Having both Ivanhoe and Monte Vista to choose from assures that you have some variety. – Citysearch Contributor > * This is an excellent course. Challenging and affordable They take excellent care of this place. I caught a huge bass in the pond next to hole 3. Remember [sic] to catch and release on the golf courses. – Citysearch Contributor > * Ivanhoe is a nice course, but I have to say I favor the Lakes course. Its [sic] SO gorgeous. – Traci T., Yelp
Golf's Next Big Thing
Since child golf-prodigy Tiger Woods wowed the golf world at an extremely young age, the search for the next big thing has come up empty—until today, when ESPN’s golf analyst Andy North announced that Benjamin Creighton will be named ESPN’s Most Likely Future Golf Or Volleyball Phenom.
North, who discovered Creighton while milling around a maternity ward at Holyoke Medical Center in Massachusetts, concluded that Creighton (conceived 7 months ago with an expected delivery date of October 15, 2009) demonstrated fundamentally sound grip and a perfect putting stance in a week-16 ultrasound.
Legendary swing coach Butch Harmon, who was also milling around the maternity ward, told the Creightons, “I fully expect Benjamin to join the pro tour in the next several months. I’m also working with a crocodile who holds a club in his teeth.”
