For children who have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, incarceration, and other traumatic ordeals, destructive expression can seem like the only way to communicate or deal with their problems. To help Southern California's high-risk and at-risk youth learn to develop and nurture positive creative expression, Create Now mentors youth ages 2–25 in an array of creative media, helping them develop teamwork skills, build confidence, convey their emotional distresses, and move beyond their turmoil.
Create Now programs, which vary in duration, reach out to children living in shelters, detention facilities, group homes, special centers, and schools throughout Southern California, matching them with a caring mentor to explore the medium of their choice. The organization's five program areas—music, art, writing, performing arts, and cultural excursions—give participants a point of entry into artistic pursuits such as creating videos, composing music, and learning various forms of dance. Some performance-based media include public presentations to audiences, and while these performances can be beneficial to the young artists who create them, they sometimes require specialized equipment to produce.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help Create Now purchase performance equipment for its youth-development programs. If G-Team members raise $500, Create Now can purchase a portable public-address system to be used in its music, theater, dance, and poetry programs. Every additional $10 raised will allow two children to attend a local concert or play.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
