What You'll Get
The Issue: Guided Philanthropic Investment
There are more than a million registered organizations dotting the United States’ charitable landscape, according to a report from the Urban Institute. With so many options, its easy for interested donors to become overwhelmed as they determine how to best invest their money. Charity Navigator has evaluated charities for the last decade, and currently assesses and provides ratings of more than 5,800 midsize-to-large charities in the country to guide donors as they make philanthropic investments.
The Campaign: Rating Charities to Guide Investment
If 100 people donate $10 to this Grassroots campaign, then Charity Navigator can rate a new charity for its website. The site, which Kiplinger named the Best Charity Review Site in 2011, aims to maximize the effect of donated dollars through curation and program analysis. The ratings currently include assessments of each organization’s financial health, accountability, and transparency. Each additional $500 raised will be used to add another charity to the rating site.

About Charity Navigator
As America's largest charity rater, Charity Navigator serves more than three million unique visitors each year, impacting approximately $10 billion of charitable donations. The organization’s rating methodology focuses on not only the financial health and analysis of a charity's performance, but also on each charity's accountability and transparency. The system helps donors make knowledgeable, empowered decisions about how to invest their philanthropic dollars, while in turn helping charities maximize their social impact and fundraising efforts.
