Long ago, Scottish polo players longed for a game where they could explore scenic terrain, ride an obedient mechanical horse, and wear more courageously plaid knickers. Marvel in their subsequent invention with today's Groupon for a round of golf, plus lunch and two beverages, range balls, and cart rental at The Deltona Club. Choose between two options:
- For $34, you get a weekend golf package (up to a $68.50 value).
- For $29, you get a weekday golf package (up to a $58.50 value).
Newly renovated and reopened in 2008, The Deltona Club made Golfweek magazine's Best New Courses list in 2009. The new design is the eye-catching creation of famous golf-course architect Bobby Weed, who transformed the course into 166 acres of rolling green vistas suggestive of a sliver of northeastern territory or southwestern guacamole. The 18-hole course is outfitted with a clubhouse sporting a new bar, lounge, and grill room, as well as locker rooms and other indoor amenities. Hungry golfers can drop by at lunchtime to collect their included meal made up of a sandwich stuffed with pulled pork, turkey, or ham, with chips on the side and a cold beer, soda, Gatorade, or bottled water.
Golf magazine named The Deltona Club one of the Best Golf Courses in Florida in 2010. Golfweek magazine placed The Deltona Club on its list of Best New Courses in 2009, and WorldGolf reviewed the course's reopening.
- Aside from the improved aesthetics, the Deltona Club throws a varied playbook at you; after No. 2, you don't find any consecutive pars - no repetitive par 4s or par 5s. It has a few blind shots, owing to the elevation, and some tricky risk-reward options. – Tim McDonald, WorldGolf
The Deltona Club
Renowned golf-course architect Bobby Weed aims to fill his courses with the kind of rich details typically produced only by Mother Nature herself. His 2008 overhaul of The Deltona Club completely transformed the course: today, blowout-style native-sand bunkers bear roughly scalloped edges that call to mind a raw desert landscape, and the elevation rises in craggy steps as the course progresses, giving players a sense of conquering the land itself. The course's resulting beauty, sense of challenge, and secret bonus level snagged the club a spot on Golfweek's list of best Florida courses in 2012.
