Down Under Yoga's band of certified and senior advanced yoga instructors, including an instructor with a senior advanced certificate in the Iyengar method, help students to further their practice through dynamic Iyengar- and Vinyasa-style classes all week. Students of varying skill levels drop into one of three levels of Iyengar yoga, a form of yoga prioritizing proper alignment, posture, and deep openings of tight joints and limbs. Beginners learn the primary postures and breathing techniques while learning to modify for injuries or tightness, and more advanced students explore challenging inversions, back bends, arm balances, and chakra juggling. Alternatively, the flowing Vinyasa style features a continuous sequence of movements linked together with deep, mindful-breathing exercises. Heated flows push minds and bodies to the edges of steep sticky-mat cliffs with a series of vigorous postures performed in a balmy studio. As body temperatures rise, muscles melt into deeper stretches, helping to increase flexibility and banish harmful toxins to sweat-drop wastelands. Relax and Renew Vinyasa classes combine tranquility with lengthy restorative and meditative postures to work with connective tissue, relax the mind, and open the body.

About Down Under Yoga
Down Under is home to some of America's most senior yoga teachers in the United States, including Patricia Walden, Natasha Rizopoulos, Barbara Benagh, Peentz Dubble, and Kate O'Donnell. Teachers guide students in intelligent classes drawing on the lineages of Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Iyengar yoga. In classes, they're not seeking a beautiful pose but rather the quality of the student's attention inside that pose, and they welcome practitioners of all levels and ages.
Down Under School of Yoga began as a small group of friends teaching and practicing yoga in a parish hall. The school has blossomed to include two studios in Boston, though the community origins are still felt in the the warm, inviting spaces. The studios are personal – every aspect of Down Under School of Yoga's design sprung from the minds of practicing yogis and community members.
In addition to regular drop-in classes, the school offers regular 200- and 300-hour yoga teacher trainings, continuing education, and workshops. In workshops teachers and guest instructors discuss specialized topics, such as using yoga to build core strength or help with back pain.
Ensuring that their moral compass points due north, Down Under School of Yoga respects the ancient practice of yoga by refusing to sell overpriced apparel or environmentally taxing disposable water bottles.
