Of the 40 preschool-age children living in the community of San Antonio Chacayá in Guatemala, only 15 attend school due to a lack of resources and the school's dangerous location at the summit of a steep hill. EduCare works to make education accessible to children living across the globe, while also helping kids succeed academically via online-tutoring programs.
Through a partnership with Pencils of Promise, EduCare's Global Education Movement is working to build an easily accessible new school on donated land in the center of San Antonio Chacayá. Due to a scarcity of funds, construction has not yet started on the new school, but the land has already been cleared and connected to the water system in preparation. At present, children who cannot attend the current school—in part due to its dangerous location—have little access to education, save for visits from the preschool teacher, who travels to their homes to drop off assignments and other materials. The new location, conveniently situated in the center of town, is more easily accessible for the school's young students. In addition to providing funds to help construct the school, EduCare and Pencils of Promise plan to help address other additional costs, such as teacher salaries, desks, books, and other school supplies.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help EduCare and Pencils of Promise reach their goal of providing accessible education for the children in San Antonio Chacayá. If G-Team members raise $500, then EduCare can fund educational access for five children in the community for one year. Each additional $100 raised will fund another child's education for one year.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
