Kissimmee, Florida: Easy Access to World-Famous Theme Parks and Major Orlando Attractions

Located on the banks of Lake Tohopekaliga, Kissimmee sits about 22 miles from downtown Orlando and just 16 miles from the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks. The world’s most-visited entertainment resort spans roughly 30,000 acres, encompassing four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Downtown Disney® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day at Magic Kingdom® Park by boarding Space Mountain® Attraction, a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. After that, ride past the ghastly goofballs inside The Haunted Mansion. For dinner, head over to Epcot® to sample cuisine from Morocco, Mexico, France, Italy, and several other countries at the World Showcase. As one of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is home to other theme parks including Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando’s vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as the CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which holds improv shows five nights a week.

About a 10-minute drive north, you’ll find several cultural institutions surrounding Loch Haven Park, including the Orlando Museum of Art; the collection features pieces by Georgia O’Keeffe, Robert Rauschenberg, Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol. The park is also home to the Orlando Shakespeare Theater and the Orlando Science Center, where you can take a rover across a simulation of Mars or race model cars down a 70-foot pinewood-derby track.

Stressful Vacation I booked this room 5 days in advance to my family of three young children, myself and my disabled mother who is on oxygen 24/7. I asked while booking that the room be on a lower level as its hard for my mother to walk for long periods at a time. Upon arriving, we were earlier than our reservation, by an hour and a half. They said there was only one room clean...in this giant hotel? BUT it was an upgrade. This hotel is huge, they have a covered pool which was very nice but the rooms beside them are so many, ours was right in the middle. had to go back and forth, walking over a mile to bring our luggage and groceries in, and help my mom to the room, all while dealing with a two year old and two young children. The "upgrade" was actually a downgrade as it was mixed between two smoking rooms, and we had to pass smokers on the way to the room. Also the covered pool plays music from early in the morning to midnight sometimes later on the weekends. We were here to relax and have fun but our hotel made that impossible. I tried calling the front desk several times and no one answered. The only good part was the room, it was clean however they did not come to clean it for the entire 4 days we were there or bring towels, trash bags, take the trash or anything. Normally we would not mind to do that ourselves but because of Covid daily cleaning is necessary to prevent the spreading. We are a big fan of the Kissimmee area of Orlando and the property with the nature park as gorgeous but the bad experience with service, the rooms and our needs being completely ignore cannot be forgotten.

Oh, boy. Here we go.... Being in customer service for over 15 years, I realize that it's always important to start with something positive and go from there. So, here we go: Pros: The water gets hot quickly Cons: The Groupon ad from the "resort", which is what I used to choose them is HIGHLY inaccurate. There was no continental breakfast, theme park shuttle, or hot tub. They said it was due to the pandemic. This could've been an easy update to their ad. But wait...there's more! The room smelled horrible. We found a fake eyelash on the carpet. There was chewed gum stuck on the lamp. Little bugs scurried out of the tub looking for their mother. If you blinked on the bed, it would squeak. The refrigerator would occasionally make a rumbling noise at night, but no worries. It just need a good slap for it to stop. The walls are so thin, you can hear all the music by the pool. It was like you were there without being there. Oh, did I mention there was NO room service? They blamed that, too, on Covid. Being that it was spring break, I caught multiple contacts by inhaling illegal fumes. We had broken glass outside of our door too. So, essentially, I paid for the room AND "resort" fee for no resort services or amenities. By the way, they have a nightly movie that should start at 7, but you may be out on the lounger until 8 or so for it to start, because, you know, priorities. Now, you could call them on the hotel phone, but that didn't work either. I'm sure you're asking why we didn't leave. We'll, everything was planned and there was no extra money to get another hotel at the last minute while waiting to get my money back. We ended up cutting our vacation short a day and checked out early. Needless to say, going home is a vacation away from this place. In all seriousness, please don't go here. They have an F rating on BBB with complaints similar to mine, which I failed to catch. Although I'm trying to make light of a horrible stay, everything mentioned is 100% true.
