So dirty. If you’re thinking of coming— go to traverse city instead. Disgusting. Three years ago we stayed at this location, and it was ok— not as nice as Traverse City. Three years later.. it is a dump bin mortified and I can’t even believe I am sleeping here but I can’t make my kids leave. They are too excited.
When we arrived, it was a huge nightmare in the lobby. They used to have characters or little picture spots in the lobby to entertain the kids while at check-in. Now they have a Hilton sales person instead. The people checking you in move pretty slowly, so they put up several tablets for self check in. You need to have your id and a matching credit card. There was a surprise $19/ night parking fee. There are other GWL that have parking fees listed— not this one.
We went to the water park because our room wasn’t ready. It was so horrifying and disgusting— I couldn’t take a picture of it. Every single stall in the bathroom was over flowing with bloody tampons and poopy diapers. There was trash all over inside the bathroom and in the water park. There were no chairs and no where to put your stuff.
I got to my room, and ordered the birthday package. They don’t give you a cake— you get a coupon for a cake. The balloons are not inflated and just sit on the table.
Everything is the room wasn’t old and tired and used up. Paint is rubbed off of everything in the room and throughout the hotel. The carpet is stained. Behind the pillows in the bed it’s all crusty and gross right by your head. The pillows are pitiful and limp.
Look, they offered me to leave and give me a full refund, but I already drove 3 hours and my kids are too excited about the water park to go back. I checked the bed but I pray I don’t bring home bed bugs.
Great wolf lodge used to feel like they were competition for Disney— but on Disney’s worst day they wouldn’t be this bad. This hotel is desperate for cleaning and maintenance.

Forget about the lazy river. This is my fourth or fifth stay at this location and this time around I feel like the experience is more or less ruined because this time there are next to no tubes available for the lazy river, normally my favorite part. Most people go without and just wade through the river. Every other time there have been more than enough for everyone, and I just can't figure out why they went and ruined it.
Rooms are clean enough, beds are comfortable enough. As usual they nickel and dime us to death.

Our stay was a mixed bag I stayed last night with my sister and 10 year old nephew and it was a mixed bag. Our room (deluxe family suite with balcony) was clean and spacious but the mattresses are lumpy, ancient, and was literally the most uncomfortable sleep I’ve had in a long time. The pillows were thin pieces of fabrics with what felt like a few cotton balls inside.
The water park itself was fun and clean and we had a great time, no major complaints there. My only grievance is I wish they provided more inner tubes for the lazy river. They had maybe 20 total and most people went without.
Dining was massively overpriced and nothing spectacular. The food is all basic cafeteria quality. We went to the breakfast buffet and it was chaos, we waited 15 minutes to be seated because it took a staff member that long to acknowledged us despite several open tables and we when I asked for the check, no one knew who was supposed to be our server (it’s a buffet and I didn’t realize we were supposed to have a server) so it took another 20 minutes to bring us the bill.
